SB 290 Original 2026 Regular Session Abraham

Present law provides for a standardized data collection system to provide for the regular collection and reporting of certain student data.

Present law requires the La. Dept. of Education to obtain concurrence from the local public school system prior to changing the exit code assigned to a student by the school system.

Proposed law retains present law but changes the requirement that La. Dept. of Education and the local public school system concur from prior to changing the exit code assigned to a student by the school system to prior to assigning an exit code to a student that differs from the exit code assigned to a student by the school system.

Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.

(Amends R.S. 17:3911(C)(5))
